There are several categories of people who will see more tax relief. Those include the unemployed and people in the telecommunications and energy-efficiency industries. In addition, first-time homebuyers and people who are making 'green' improvements to their existing residences will have some benefits.
However, the "Make Work Pay" credit only provides $400.00 for single taxpayers and $800.00 for those with joint returns. This is where the $15.00 relief comes into play. People will see a reduction in the taxes that are taken out of their paycheck every week. However, to qualify, you can't make over $75,000 or $150,000.00.
Now, what are people going to do with an extra $15.00 per week? It certainly won't go very far. You won't be able to buy a new TV or computer. In fact, many people just may not notice it at all with expenses continually on the rise.
People who find themselves on a fixed income, such as social security or disability will not even get that. They will get a check for $250.00. This payment will not do much to help them keep up with their bills.
You may wonder how much this entire plan cost. Well, for the small price of $116 billion, this is the plan that Obama came up with. Unfortunately, it does nothing to help people get back to work; nor, does it give employers any incentive to hire more people.
