One of the biggest parts of the plans will call for some large public works programs that this country has not seen since the days of Eisenhower. In fact, it has not been since the times of the Great Depression that the United States government has chosen to put so much money into the economy.
During his first interview since his election, Obama made continuous reference to the poor state of the current economy. He believes that the times will get worse before they begin to improve. However, this may just be a ploy so that people do not expect too much from him.
The main reason that Obama will be able to get his plans into action is the fact that the majority of the new Congress is democratic. This means that he will get the legislation on his agenda passed with ease.
Obama promises to do more for the infrastructure of the United States than Americans have seen since the time of Eisenhower and his plans to implement a nation-wide interstate highway system. Some of the goals the incoming president has promised to work towards are revamping the bridges and roads, installing 'green' heating and cooling systems in public buildings, renovating schools and implementing high-speed internet across the whole country.
These are lofty goals and certainly will benefit our country. Hopefully, it will work.
